Dr. Cynthia A. Tschampl, PhD, is a Research Scientist at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University with over 20 years of experience in U.S. and global health. Specializing in economic evaluations, her research spans infectious disease prevention and treatment, healthcare financing, substance use disorder, health inequities, and quality measurement.

A member of the Massachusetts Medical Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Tuberculosis (MACET) since 2004, she also chairs Stop TB USA. She received the 2011 Charles DeGraw TB Award and delivered the inaugural Thomas Q. Garvey Public Health Lecture in 2021. She has served on The Union’s North American Region planning committee for nearly a decade, co-chairing the Stop TB Plenary since 2020.
Dr. Jonathan Stillo is an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University, specializing in medical anthropology and public health. He has been a member of the STOP TB USA Coordinating Board since 2020, a leader in the TB Europe Coalition since 2012, and part of the Global TB Community Advisory Board since 2013. Previously, he coordinated the WHO EURO/Wolfheze Patient-Centered TB Care Working Group.
His research on TB in Romania began in 2006, including extensive fieldwork in sanatoriums and interviews with patients and providers. Supported by grants from the NSF and U.S. Department of State, he has consulted for WHO, ECDC, and the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest. His work focuses on addressing social, economic, and structural barriers to TB care through person-centered, human rights-based approaches. More info.
Dr. Amee Patrawalla, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Medical Director of the Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute. With extensive experience in outpatient TB care and critical care settings, she has witnessed the toll of TB firsthand.
Committed to improving patient-centered care, Dr. Patrawalla contributes to provider training, patient education, and curriculum development. She engages patients beyond treatment, guiding them to support services and advocacy. Active in ACET, CHEST, and The Union, she is recognized as an innovative, supportive mentor and leader in TB care.
Dr. Sundari R. Mase earned her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, her medical degree from UCSF, and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from UC Berkeley. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at UCSF.
She has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Emory, an Associate Clinical Professor at UCSF, and Sonoma County’s Health Officer. With experience at local, state, federal, and international levels, she has led TB clinical, programmatic, and research efforts, including serving as WHO’s India Country TB Medical Officer.
